The tea packaging factory “Nevskie Porogi Ltd.” was registered in Vsevolozhsk district of Leningrad Oblast on June, 18 by the founder company Orimi Trade.
By this time “The Princesses” tea brands (Princess Noori, Kandi, Gita and Java) had gained over 20% of the Russian tea market in volume terms.
The need to bring down the production costs including the transport costs as well as to insure high level of quality became the main reasons for building the packaging facilities in Russia. Favourable investment terms offered by the government Leningrad Oblast defined the location of the factory.
1 stage. The investment agreement with the government of Leningrad Oblast dd. 21.07.99 for the amount equivalent to USD 7 million. Within the framework of the agreement the company built tea packaging facilities with the output capacity of 14400 tons of tea a year.
The first production run was made in August 2000. The planned production capacity was reached in March 2001. The cost of the major tea packaging equipment amounted to USD 5.5 million. The cost of reconstructing the building and support equipment totalled USD 1.5 million. The number of the employees was 150. The production area totalled 8500 square meters.
2 stage. The amount of invested capital was increased to the equivalent of USD 14.2 million (Additional Agreement dd. 28.06.03). The investments were made until November 2002.
The production output increased to 20000 tons a year that equalled to 14% of the tea consumed in Russia every year. The modern warehouse for the input materials with the area of over 4000 square meters was put into operation.
The coffee factory for roasting, grinding and packing roast coffee was put into operation. The annual coffee output reached to 3000 tons of coffee a year. The production area amounted to 14000 square meters. The number of employees totalled 250.
3 stage. The investment volume has been increased to the equivalent of USD 30 million (Additional Agreement dd.17.12.2002). The estimated completion date is second quarter of 2004. As of April 15, 2003 the company has invested in the factory complex more than USD 20 million.
Within the framework of the third stage the company is planning to build additional warehousing facilities with the area of 3500 square meters, the second line of tea packaging facilities and second line for producing roast coffee.
The tea output is to increase to at least 30000 tons a year, coffee output – to at least 6000 tons.
The main suppliers of the production equipment include the following companies: IMA (Italy), PROBAT (Germany) Robert BOSCH (Germany), TECNOMECCANICA (Italy), ILAPAK (Italy), ICA (Italy).
The main contractor for the general construction works is ZAO “Omega”, St.Petersburg. The production area is to increase to 21000 square meters. The estimated number of the employees is over 500 people.
Today “Nevskie Porogi” complex is comprised of the largest tea packaging factory in Russia and fully computerised coffee production line equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and run by highly qualified manpower.
The net profit in 2002 amounted to 30.5 million rubles.
